Spurs set to end Jamie O'Hara's loan spell at Portsmouth

Harry Redknapp is set to cause more problems for Portsmouth by recalling Jamie O'Hara and loaning him to another Barclays Premier League club.

O'Hara's loan deal expires on January 15 and Tottenham have refused permission for him to play against Coventry today to prevent him being cup-tied.

His final game for Pompey will be a week today at Fulham but Redknapp admits he does not want him to languish on the fringes of his Spurs squad without playing. 'Jamie needs to play, that's the problem,' said Redknapp.

O'Hara, 23, has been arguably Portsmouth's most consistent player and there will be no shortage of clubs interested in taking him for the next six months.
Avram Grant would love to keep him for the rest of the season but the club's financial plight makes any deal seem impossible.

 

Pompey have been under a transfer embargo since mid-October. Any loan extension would include another fee being pledged to Spurs, one of several clubs already owed money by Portsmouth, who are resigned to selling players this month to generate funds.
Aruna Dindane, Nadir Belhadj, Hassan Yebda and Kanu are all away for up to a month at the Africa Cup of Nations and French club Lens are threatening to recall Dindane midway through his loan because they claim Portsmouth have broken an agreement to buy him permanently after 11 games.
